Avocado Oil: deep and effective nourishment

Hydrating Linden Blossom Body Cream - imagen saber más

Avocado oil in cosmetics

From the same tree as the cooking avocado, but pressed for a different reason. Avocado oil is extracted by cold pressing the pulp, not the pit, as many people assume, and the result is a dense, dark green oil in its virgin form, with one of the most nourishing and penetrating lipid profiles in the plant world.

How it works

Its main component is oleic acid, up to 70%. The same acid that makes olive oil so compatible with human skin. It is accompanied by palmitoleic acid, linoleic acid, and a very high unsaponifiable fraction loaded with phytosterols, vitamin E, vitamin K, and vegetable squalene. That's where the real regenerating action lies.

It strengthens the skin barrier, reduces water loss, and improves elasticity with continued use. And it has a valuable quality in formulation: it acts as a vehicle, carrying vitamins and extracts to where they need to go. It is not the only protagonist; sometimes it plays the role of a sidekick, and it does it well.

Properties and benefits

  • Deep nourishment. Reaches where others don't. For very dry, mature, or taut-prone skin, the difference is real.
  • Regenerative. Its phytosterols stimulate collagen synthesis and accelerate cell renewal. Effective on damaged skin or skin with accumulated sun exposure.
  • Anti-inflammatory and soothing. Well-tolerated on reactive or sensitive skin. No dramas.
  • Antioxidant. Vitamin E and carotenoids stop oxidative damage from sun, pollution, stress... and delay premature aging.
  • Formula enhancer. Facilitates better penetration of other active ingredients. That's why it appears as a base in creams and serums, not just as an active ingredient itself.
  • Hands and cuticles. Hands age quickly and have few sebaceous glands. Avocado here is not a whim; it's logic.

Use and integration into routine

On the body: apply the cream to damp skin after showering to maximize absorption. Especially beneficial for elbows, knees, heels, and areas that always complain in winter. Hydrates without a heavy feel.

On hands: after washing or when you feel tightness. Allow it to absorb before touching anything you don't want to get greasy. With continued use, cuticles and nails also benefit.

With exfoliant: avocado offsets the exfoliating effect, nourishing while removing dead cells. It's not a contradiction; it's a complement.

Combines well withshea butterfor intense nourishment, withvitamin Candvitamin Eto enhance its antioxidant action, and withniacinamidein anti-aging routines.

Curiosities and facts

10,000 years of craft
Archaeological remains in Mexico and Peru confirm that avocado has been cultivated since the Neolithic era. The Aztecs already used it in cosmetics, calling itahuacatl. Its jump into the cream jar is not as recent as it seems.

Green by conviction
Virgin oil has an intense green color due to its chlorophyll and carotenoid content. Many commercial oils are refined until colorless to facilitate formulation. It's not essential for it to be green to work, but virgin oil retains more bioactive compounds.

Palmitoleic acid, the lesser-known secret
One of the few vegetable oils rich in omega-7, a fatty acid that the skin itself naturally produces, and which diminishes with age. Replenishing it from the outside makes perfect sense, especially in mature skin.

Not from the pit
Cosmetic oil comes from the pulp. Other extracts can be obtained from the pit, but they are not the same nor do they have the same profile. If you seeavocado seed extractin an INCI, it's something else.

This is how it appears in the INCI: Persea Gratissima Oil, Persea Americana Oil
