A brief history of Marseille soap.

Medieval origins (13th century):In Marseille, soaps made from olive oil and vegetable soda began to be produced. The abundance of raw materials in the region (olive oil, Camargue salt) favored its expansion.

Royal regulation (1688):Colbert's edict, under Louis XIV, established strict regulations: only pure vegetable oils, a ban on animal fats, and cooking in large cauldrons. This gave Marseille soap its reputation for quality.

19th Century – Industrial Boom:Marseille became the soap capital of France. By 1900 there were nearly100 factoriesand in 1913 production reached 180,000 tons.

Modern Times:With the arrival of synthetic detergents in the 20th century, the industry declined drastically. Today, only a few traditional factories keep the original recipe alive. Handmade soaps are now considered luxury items and a symbol of tradition.

NOTE: This soap contains palm and palm kernel oil derivatives, commonly used in cosmetics for their cleansing properties and structure. At CUIDA-T, we work to ensure that these ingredients come from sustainable, deforestation-free crops. We have applied for certification.RSPO (Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil)We have sent it to the manufacturer and are still waiting to receive it, and we communicated this because transparency with our customers is an essential part of our commitment.
