¿Leyenda o secreto real?

  • La historia dice que Cleopatra se bañaba diariamente en leche de burra para mantener la piel suave, joven y radiante.
  • Se conoce que necesitaba a diario hasta 700 burras para llenar la bañera de la preciada leche, porque cada una da poquita leche (0.5 a 1.5 litros/día). Esta señora era una auténica deslechadora.
  • Ojo: fuentes históricas serias (como Plinio el Viejo) atribuyen los baños masivos a Popea (mujer de Nerón, unos 80 años después), y dudan de que Cleopatra lo hiciera de verdad. Pero la leyenda pegó tanto que todo el mundo la asocia con ella. Es mito con base real en los beneficios de la leche de burra.
  • Hipócrates, el padre de la medicina, ya recomendaba la leche de burra hace siglos para tratar diversas dolencias como reumatismo, problemas intestinales y para ayudar a la cicatrización, reconociendo su similitud con la leche materna y sus propiedades beneficiosas.
