Ioan and Sabita Biris are electronic engineers. They specialized in digital and analog signal conversion. And one day, they decided to formulate cosmetics.
The connection is not as strange as it seems. An engineer who approaches a cosmetic formulation does so according to their working method: they study all published research, analyze acidity, identify ingredients that can create synergy with the main active ingredients, verify that there are no reactions between components, and check stability. No shortcuts, no ingredients added purely for marketing, no fillers that look good on the packaging but add nothing to the skin.
That is Olae's philosophy: minimalism formulated with engineering criteria.
Method in Olae's formulas
Each product goes through 20 to 25 formulations before reaching the final version. This is not bureaucracy; it is the necessary process to achieve the correct sensory profile, without stickiness, with adequate absorption, and with the pH optimized for each active ingredient. Then come the stability and microbiological tests. If it doesn't pass, it doesn't get released.
No superfluous ingredients, even if they benefit marketing. With that phrase, they say it all. In cosmetics, it is common to add active ingredients in such low concentrations that they are irrelevant, just to be able to mention them on the packaging. Olae does not do this. What appears in the formula is there because it works and in the concentration that works.
Their entire range is fragrance-free. Not for fashion: fragrance is one of the most frequent allergens in cosmetics and adds nothing cosmetically. Removing it is consistent with the philosophy of not adding what is unnecessary.

Olae is not an acronym or an invented word: in Latin, olaemeans olives in the genitive plural. A discreet reference to olive oil and the Mediterranean tradition of natural cosmetics, without needing to highlight it.
